SCI-MHVAC-CASE-002

High-Pressure Trip Investigation

Majesty 100 ft | MAR-IX three-chiller system

Technical evidence from the inspection
Stabilized under test; corrective work remains open

ASSESSMENT

Repeated high-pressure trips were investigated across the chilled-water loop, seawater circuit, refrigerant charge condition and controls. The final test separated the corrected faults from the remaining pump risk.

The system completed an approximately five-hour monitored test without another recorded high-pressure trip. Final close-out remained dependent on restoring seawater-pump redundancy and resolving the air-side blower defects.

INSPECTION SCOPE

What was checked

  1. 01Fault-history review for high-pressure and chilled-water sensor alarms
  2. 02Chilled-water pressure, air removal and circulation checks
  3. 03Seawater pump operation, condenser flow path and seawater temperatures
  4. 04Pressure and compressor-current monitoring before and after correction

FIELD EVIDENCE

What the inspection showed

  • Hot seawater and restricted heat rejection reduced the available condensing margin.
  • A failed seawater pump removed operating redundancy.
  • A separate chilled-water outlet sensor fault was corrected and verified.
  • High-side pressure reduced from 460 psi to 410 psi during the recorded work sequence.
